via Daily Prompt: Praise

Most of the time we are so busy that we forget to praise our children, especially as they get older. We focus on their few shortcoming and overlook their many good characteristics.

Appreciating children

We think we are doing the best for our children but we overlook the things that will really benefit them in the long run. The things that will prepare them for life. The experience that will carry them through many of the challenges.

All the fancy expensive toys and indulging them in unhealthy foods is what many parents think is showing love. Just ponder for a moment: 10 years down the line will it show any benefit in their life.

The one thing that really helps children grow in their awareness and learning is travelling. We underestimate the capacity of learning that our children have. Going on a school trip will teach them experience that will serve them well through life. Over protecting our children from the realities of life is only going to result in a setback when they are old enough to set out on their own. Who are we doing a favor when we say no going on the school excursion? Is it really a matter of cost when we go all length for the toys and electronics??

Grandfather And Granddaughter QuotesWe deny them the opportunity to learn and shelter them from becoming self reliant and allowing them to go out on a school trip by themselves.  Lets get real if our children grow up with fewer expensive gadgets but richer in experience who does it benefit in the long run? Not just your child but it will make you proud too! Lets become proud parents. Let us do things for our children that really make a difference to their lives like appreciate and praise them for their good and thoughtful deeds.
